Social and Population Health Sciences Research Consortium Mission Statement

The Social and Population Health Sciences Research Consortium links PhD Students to rigorous and integrative social, population, and basic sciences research for real world impact.

Continued advances for the health of people globally depend upon our ability to train researchers and clinicians who understand the complex determinants of health, from the molecular to the social. Our students' research creates opportunities for improving health across racial, socio-economic, cultural, geographic and political boundaries and helps solve our most intractable health challenges. UCSF graduate students examine the contexts that shape the health of the most vulnerable people in society; the effects of violence and war on communities; and the social forces involved in the use of new medicines and technologies.
